Lenny Leo Didn't Mean To

...at least that's what he always said...

SEL THEMEs: Mistakes Happen

Book Summary

Lenny Leo has a big heart and a very fast way of moving through the world.

Whether he is spilling milk at breakfast, splashing paint at school, or zooming across the playground, trouble seems to follow wherever Lenny goes.

“I didn’t mean to!” he always says.

But when Lenny learns to slow down and think before he acts, something wonderful begins to happen. His big energy becomes something even better, a chance to help someone who needs it.

A funny and heartwarming story about understanding energetic children, learning from mistakes, and discovering that sometimes the best choices are the ones we truly mean to make.

A NOTE FROM THE AUTHOR

Why I wrote this book

Many children are full of energy, curiosity, and big ideas. Sometimes that energy moves faster than their thoughts, and their actions do not always turn out the way they hoped. Children like Lenny Leo often have wonderful hearts. They want to help. They want to try. They simply need guidance learning how to pause for a moment before acting. One helpful strategy is teaching children to stop, think, and then act. Pause. Think: What choice will lead to the best outcome? Then decide what to do next. When we slow down just long enough to think, our good hearts have a chance to guide our actions. This story was inspired by spirited children and adults I have loved. People whose curiosity, enthusiasm, and sometimes fearless energy moved a little faster than the world around them. With patience, understanding, and practice, those same qualities can grow into kindness, confidence, and thoughtful choices. Children’s energy is not something to quiet. It is something to guide. When we help children slow down, think, and choose wisely, their greatest strengths begin to shine. Warmest Regards, Ashley
